What's this all about?
What is a job video?
A job video is a behind-the-scenes preview of the work and the people who do it. It's a "job post in motion" that allows candidates to see, rather than read about, a job. It should feel like an authentic preview, as well as a celebration of the job. It covers the dynamic and specific skills required of a particular job.
Who should be in a job video?
Candidates want to hear from the people closest to the work - someone who is in the job, and a supervisor!
What should I expect for filming?
You’ve got a business to run, and stopping productivity is the last thing we want to do. Two members of our team come and film your position in 90 minutes or less - one camera person, one interviewer. We'll send a short list of questions ahead of time that you can share with your team.
How can I prepare for filming?
Identify someone in the job, and a supervisor we can interview for 15-20 minutes. Book a conference room, or set aside a quiet office where we can film interviews. We'll take care of the rest!
We bring the cameras and ask the questions. There are no right or wrong answers - you are the EXPERT! It should feel like an authentic and informational conversation with the Skill Scout team. We love learning about jobs, and you can tell us all about yours. This may sound funny, but talk to us as if we are your 11-year-old niece. Drop the jargon and really break it down for us in simple terms.
I have confidential information in my company, how can we handle that?
Your secrets are safe! Some companies have confidential equipment or information they prefer not to be shared in the video. We discuss that prior to filming and find ways to capture the job and environment without disclosing confidential information.
I’m ready to go, when can we start and when will I have my video?
That’s great! We should be able to schedule a visit within a week of your inquiry and have the video produced in under a week after that.
Can I review and approve the video?
Of course! We provide a preliminary edit and incorporate your feedback into the final version. We'll share this through a private YouTube link. Once you're happy with the video, we will build it into your recruiting page. Click here for an example.
